Phanship - About Us

     Why Hello There, This is your Captain Speaking - Captain John Ferber and I'd like to personally welcome you to The Phanship. Please take a seat, perhaps buckle up a seatbelt, put the car in park, and get ready, because this PhanShip is about to BLAST OFF. 

     What is the PhanShip you ask? Where did the idea come from and what is the vision for the future you may wonder?  Let me take a few moments to explain these questions!

     First and Foremost, The PhanShip is a "Relationship Platform". It is what I like to call a hybrid of a social media platform combined with elements of a dating platform to create something new and unique. A place where like minded individuals who share a common passion and interest can meet and explore a variety of relationships for literally countless reasons.

     Perhaps you are looking for someone to goto a concert with, or you just moved to a new city and are looking for others who share your passions, or you are looking for a new love interest, or a business partner, or a travel partner, or anactivity partner ---> In life there is are so many of types of relationships we can have, why limit any platform to just one!

     Most of Phanship is completely free, however there are some premium features you can subscribe too or purchase ala carte. There are NO ads anywhere on the site.   Additionally, I swear your data will never be sold by The PhanShip. We share your concern over our collective privacy online.  The platform is available on your computer, your phone via the web/mobile web, and  via native apps from The Google Play Store and Apple Store.

Where did the idea come from and whats the vision for the Future?

To understand where the idea came from and whats the vision for the future, allow me to briefly introduce myself a little more. My name is John Ferber (PROFILE LINK) and I am 47 years old. Since college I have been a successful technology entrepreneur and founder/co-founder/investor, etc of many companies. I am the inventor of many patents, and for pretty much my entire adult life I have been in LOVE WITH THE BAND PHISH!!!!  

Way Back in 2003, I actually created what in retrospect was the very first dating app. It was called MyEMessenger  - We had more than 1 million users.

It was pre-Myspace, and a few years ahead of it's time - it was a full 5 or more years before the mobile app ecosystem developed and the modern day dating apps became all the rage.

Now back to my love for the band Phish... If i could count on my hand how many times I"ve heard over the years how great it would be to have an app, a community for single Phish fans to meet, ... well you know how that saying goes -- anyways -  I started to think about this more during the pandemic... 

Yeah I thought at first, dating is neat, but it's kinda limiting... And from all the posts on the various social media platforms, etc I can see there is many more types of relationships people foster online. 

So initially I set out to build this relationship platform for Phans of the band Phish..... But I was quickly reminded, that while me and many of you would like nothing more than to be living in a Phish bubble 24 hours a day listening to Trey, Mike, Page and Fish, jam endlessly, that unfortunately we are in a minority.  You see I have a company with about 50 employees and I like to blast Phish before some meetings, to the point where people beg me to stop.  That made me realize that while not everyone shares my passion for the band Phish, EVERYONE does indeed have a Passion, an Interest that is their numero Uno, that supercedes all other interests they may have.  

       And so thus here is a glimpse into what i envison for the future:

1) We will be the #1 Interest Based Relationship Platform. We will support every interest under the sun, and every relationship type. We will be inclusive, supportive and have a zero tolerance policy against hate and abuse. We have a philisophy that we love everyone, that everyone is beautiful and if there is one thing we want more than anything is for our Phans to feel comfortable, welcome, and a part of the experience!

2) I intend to follow some of the principles of open source and online governance so that PhanShip is ran by it's users in a decentralized fashion. I want the features, capabilities, future versions to be driven by the users, for now as your Captain I will steer the PhanShip based on your feedback, but at some point I hope to release it to an open community of participants who will drive the future much like the army of people who make wikipedia the amazing information source it is today.

3) I hope and intend to ultimately give a meaningful percentage of ownership in the PhanShip to the Users (that’s you) for FREE. Please note this is NOT a securities offering, there is nothing for sale at this moment in time, this is to be considered an aspiration of what I envision and nothing more at this time. As PhanShip grows we will evaluate all options to try to make this happen!  My lawyers said I should also tell you that the information on this website (or app) does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any interests in PhanShip or any other securities.  

4) This is our launch summer 2021 - the world is coming back alive. After 15 months or so of being cooped up, it's time to make new relationships. So come on, what do you have to lose? Nothing actually, lol -> So come on, Hope aboard the PhanShip!

5) Update - July 15, 2023 -- The Phanship has Taken off again after being refreshed - Hop on board and have some fun!
